IT’S BETTER THAN GETTING THE POX–Pediatric nurse practitioner Terry Kipp, left, administers a chickenpox vaccination to 15-month-old Alana Robinson as her mother, Jennifer Martin, tries to comfort her at the Conejo Valley Free Clinic. Immunization vaccines are provided at 4:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month and at 5:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month. Starting in September, all children entering kindergarten will be required to have a chickenpox vaccination or proof that they had the disease. Chickenpox is extremely contagious and can be spread by coming into contact with infected children or by breathing the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. Chickenpox can also cause scars. A $5 donation per family is appreciated. For details or to make an appointment, please call (805) 497-3575.
