Come discover hiking trails and hills




Members of the Rancho Simi Trail Blazers, a volunteer group of the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District, will meet participants for a free guided hike in Oak Park at 7:45 a.m. Sat., Jan. 25. The hike will begin at 8 a.m.

The hike is a six-mile round trip, rated moderate to strenuous, with a 1,000-foot elevation gain/ loss. The hike will begin at 8 a.m. and go along a single-track trail. It will continue on a dirt-and-rock road as it rises up the south side of the mountain to the apex. Hikers will then descend into China Flat.

Participants will then follow a trail that leads up to Simi Peak, the highest point in the Simi Hills.

To reach the meeting spot, exit at Lindero Canyon Road from the 101 Freeway. Travel 3.8 miles north/east to King James Court on the left. Drive past King James Court a short distance to Wembly Avenue on the left. Turn around and park on the north side of Lindero Canyon Road; do not park on King James Court.
