Locally, the Westlake Village brokerage offers the chance to help find homes for some great dogs.

The dogs available for adoption are provided by the Ventura County Animal Services, Camarillo and Simi Valley shelters, and CARL, a nonprofit, all breed, no-kill dog rescue and adoption organization. Since 1996, CARL has rescued and placed thousands of unwanted, sick, abandoned and homeless dogs.

Donations of used blankets and towels will be collected for the shelters.

Meet-and-greets for potential adopters who already own a dog are available. Bring dogs on a leash.
