Joe Mamone, regional vice president, and Joanne MacDonald, branch manager, recently congratulated Maria Broms Byer upon receiving the firm’s International Diamond Society Award at Coldwell Banker’s annual awards breakfast at North Ranch Country Club.

The International Diamond Society honors those in the top 10 percent of all Coldwell Banker agents internationally.

In her brief real estate career, Byer has transaction production in excess of $9.5 million.

Real estate is a second career for Byer. She recently retired after 30 years in the legal management fi eld.

When asked how her previous career helped in the transition, Byer said she learned excellent negotiating skills when working with lawyers. Now she uses that expertise when working with other agents and clients.

“This career is great for me because I know how to negotiate with all types of people. I put my clients first and foremost, and lead the way through each transaction. I try to make escrow as fun as possible,” she said.

Byer’s clients appreciate her professionalism and honesty.

“Sometimes you have to deliver bad news. But having bad news followed by a solution always eases the situation,” she said.

Byer grew up in the Conejo Valley and attended Acacia, Redwood and Thousand Oaks High schools. Having a deeprooted passion for the area sets her apart from her peers.

“Maria has a reputation as a true champion for her clients. Her client-centric approach together with her hard work and attention to detail has won her both praise and success. She is a true professional who continues to embrace new technologies and best-of-industry practices to better serve her clients,” MacDonald said.

One of Byer’s clients said this about their recent transaction: “We have been in the commercial real estate business for more than 35 years and just recently bought a home in Lake Sherwood. Maria Byer represented us in the transaction. Maria did a great job in keeping all of the parties focused on the task at hand. She draws upon her many years working in the legal industry, managing law firms and her knowledge of local market conditions. This translates into a great ‘street sense’ of real estate which is enhanced by her growing up and living in the area.

“In addition, Maria is delightful to work with. She is clientservice minded, as our questions and issues were always addressed immediately by her. We recommend Maria to anyone.”
