CLU presents big band valentine concert




“A Valentine Concert: Elmer Ramsey, His Trumpet and Orchestra,” a program of 1940s era big band music and love songs, will be performed at 8 p.m. Sat., Feb. 12 in Samuelson Chapel, south of Olsen Road near Campus Drive on the Thousand Oaks campus of California Lutheran University.

Ramsey and the Conejo “Pops” Orchestra will perform music from artists of the big band era. The program will also include love songs from World War II.

Vocalist Nancy Osborne of Westlake Village will perform. She has produced her own 17- piece big band CD, “Hot Swing, Cool Jazz.”

Daniel Geeting, a member of the CLU music faculty since 1984, will be featured on clarinet.

Ramsey is a CLU professor emeritus of music Many members of his orchestra are CLU alumni and have also performed with Harry James, Glenn Miller and Tex Beneke orchestras.

Tickets sold at the door for cash or check only will be $10 for students and $20 for others.
