Calabasas plans to buy a taxdefaulted parcel in the Calabasas Highlands for $20,000 and keep it as open space.
The privately owned lot is about 450 feet north of Mulholland Highway and Canyon Road. It is next to another undeveloped parcel that was previously bought by the city open space preservation.
The acquisition will protect oak woodland habitat and prevent further residential development in the Calabasas Highlands, a city report said.
