Cities take notice of homeless spike



 Local cities are watching carefully as the Los Angeles County homeless count continues to rise despite myriad efforts to keep it in check.
The county’s homeless population spiked last year, catching officials off guard who were under the impression the problem was being kept under control. A report last week showing the number of homeless people jumped 12% from 2018 to 2019 came as disappointing news since last year’s count was lower than the previous years.
