Children’s Bureau needs adoptive parents

With nearly 120,000 children removed from their parents’ homes due to abuse or neglect, there is a great need for caring adults to provide permanent loving and nurturing homes as adoptive parents. A parent orientation will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 21 at the Thousand Oaks Library, 1401 E. Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, for those interested—adults single or married are welcome.

Adoptive parenting involves providing and caring for a child (or a brother and a sister, or two or three sisters who do not wish to be separated) on a long-term basis and providing these vulnerable children a permanent and stable home environment.

In this situation, individuals have the opportunity to give a child who has been hurt—either emotionally or physically—a life "filled with love, hope and all the little things that make childhood special," according to the agency.

Qualifying families receive training, certification, benefits and 24-hour support to aid in the care of their adoptive children.

The mission of Children’s Bureau is to find good adoptive homes for children in need.
