Calabasas Chamber of Commerce leaders, local officials, business representatives and residents gathered at a holiday open house Dec. 19 to partake in seasonal fun.

More than 160 people attended the event at the Chamber offices in Old Town Calabasas to mingle, and have food and drinks provided by local restaurants.

Founded in 1955, the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit, nongovernmental volunteer organization comprised of local businesses owners and community leaders.

It is a valuable link between businesses, local government, neighbor associations and residents, chamber president and CEO Bridget Karl said.

The organization has about 500 members, and every month hosts informational forums, meetings and mixers.

The chamber also organizes luncheons featuring a guest speaker every other month and quarterly economic forums, which allow politicians and developers to discuss the growth and development of the area.

As the largest and most influential business organization in Calabasas, the chamber provides opportunities for local businesses to meet new clients and share ideas, while providing access to information and resources that allows them to grow.

On Jan. 25, the chamber will host its annual board of director installation and awards event from 6 to 11 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel in Westlake Village.

Each February, the chamber also hosts a bowling tournament to raise funds for scholarships, which are given to local high school seniors and other educational organizations.

The chamber’s office in old town Calabasas also serves as a visitor center and community bureau for residents, businesses and visitors who seek to obtain city statistics and demographics, referrals for products and services, and information on local events and activities.
