Chabad to welcome Jewish New Year

Services will be at Sheraton Hotel

Chabad of the Conejo will hold its High Holiday services in the grand ballroom of the Sheraton Hotel, 30100 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Auxiliary services will take place at eight other locations throughout the area.

Rosh Hashanah will be celebrated starting the evening of Sun., Sept. 9, and Yom Kippur begins the evening of Tues., Sept. 18.

The services are open to all Jews. No membership fees or prior affiliation are needed to attend services or any program at Chabad.

Hebrew-English prayerbooks (machzorim) will be provided.

A Junior Congregation program, which includes prayers, stories, songs, contests, prizes and refreshments, will be available for children ages 3 to 12.

A separate service for teenagers will be held at the Sheraton on both Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur.

The traditional service is blended with contemporary insights. Insights into the prayers and customs are given during services.

“At Chabad, you do not attend services as part of an audience; rather, we prefer for you to participate in services,” said Rabbi Moshe Bryski of Chabad. “Your prayers are just as important as those of the rabbi or cantor.”

In addition to the services, glatt kosher holiday lunches and dinners will be served at the Sheraton after services. Reservations are required for the catered meals,
