Chabad to host High Holiday services at Hyatt

Chabad of the Conejo will have its High Holiday services at the Hyatt Westlake Plaza Hotel, 880 S. Westlake Blvd., West-lake Village, where the grand ballroom will be turned into a huge sanctuary for the holidays and other hotel boardrooms will be used for the junior congregation and teen sessions. Rosh Hashanah will be celebrated from Friday evening, Sept. 26 through Sunday evening, Sept. 28. Yom Kippur begins Sunday evening, Oct. 5 and concludes Monday evening.

The traditional service is blended with contemporary and meaningful insights making the High Holidays "a bond with the past and an inspiration for the future," according to Chabad. Insights into many of the prayers and customs will be explained during services.

"At Chabad, you do not attend services as if it’s theater and you are part of the audience, rather we prefer for you to participate in services," said Rabbi Moshe D. Bryski of Chabad. "Your prayers are just as important as those of the Rabbi or Cantor."

The services are open to all Jews. There are no membership fees or prior affiliation necessary to attend services or any program at Chabad. Hebrew-English prayerbooks (Machzorim) will be provided.

A full staff of educators and Rabbinical students will be conducting junior congregation. The chil-dren’s program includes prayers, stories, songs, contests, prizes and refreshments.

In addition to the services, special arrangements have been made to accommodate those interested in spending the days of Rosh Hashanah and/or Yom Kippur at the hotel for a "High Holiday Retreat." Accommodations include Glatt Kosher cuisine and special hotel room rates. Early reservations are strongly suggested.
