Chabad of the Conejo marked its 30th anniversary on June 10 with a gala banquet at the Warner Center Marriott Hotel.
“Celebration 30: Gateway to the Future” was highlighted by tributes, comedy and music.
The Keser Shem Tov (Crown of a Good Name) award was presented to Mark and Renee Horwitz and the Chesed award to Hal and Judy Standel.
Comedian Mark Schiff and singer Jordan Bennett performed.
Renee Overton dedicated Chabad of the Conejo’s new senior outreach program, the Evelyn Overton Sunshine Club, to the memory of her late mother, Evelyn. Renee Overton also received the Guest of Honor award for the evening.
A video presentation honored the memory of Chabad representatives—Rabbi Gavriel and Rivkah Holtzberg—who were killed in the November 2008 terrorist attacks in Mumbai, India.
After the presentation, Rabbi Moshe Bryski announced that the building permit for the Chabad’s community campus is in their hands and construction can soon begin.
