Carpenter bees carve out a rural backyard niche

We’re entering the season of the flyswatter and bug zapper, insect foggers and citronella candles.
It’s true, there is a lot of annoyance on the wing as summer approaches; my rural Agoura backyard is already under siege from stinging flies, yellow jackets and mosquitoes.
