California’s victims get help





Ventura County District Attorney Michael D. Bradbury has announced that Gov. Gray Davis has signed Senate Bill 551 that will provide benefits for eligible victims and their families who suffered losses as a result of the Sept. 11 national disaster. The District Attorney’s Crime Victims’ Assistance Program has been authorized to assist victims and their families.


Benefits available to victims and their families include the cost of funeral/burial paid for a California resident up to $7,500, travel and lodging expenses for one or more people to arrange or attend the funeral/burial, bereavement leave, mental health counseling, and wage loss up to 30 days for a parent to be with his/her minor child who was injured or deceased.
