California Wildlife Center gives a hoot



RECUPERATING—The injured owl shows ofi a meal at the California Wildlife Center, which has treated 2,560 wounded animals this year.
An injured great horned owl (Bubo virginianus) arrived at the Calabasas-based California Wildlife Center on July 23. The bird of prey had become caught in a line used to fly a kite. The line was wrapped around its left wing, causing severe damage and grounding the owl.
