Calabasas synagogue plants trees for mitzvah



For the fifth year, families from Congregation Or Ami met at Malibu Creek State Park in Calabasas to plant oak trees at their Mitzvah Grove near the intersection of Crags and Motts roads in the Torpin Plain. Rabbi Paul Kipnes explained that their tree-planting mitzvah ("good deed") is literally a religious obligation to be shomray adamah, or guardians of the Earth.
