Calabasas home burglaries on the rise, police say

There is no Mayberry anymore, said Lt. Robert Wiard of the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station as he shared crime statistics with Calabasas city officials at a recent meeting.
Although Calabasas remains relatively safe, residents should still take precautions to protect themselves and deter crime, the lieutenant said.
Petty thefts from unlocked vehicles are down, but home burglaries have nearly doubled from nine to 16 for the first two months of 2013, compared to January and February 2012....
