A.J. Goldberg, a 2016 Calabasas High School graduate, was among 16 Cal Poly San Luis Obispo honor students recognized for their accomplishments by state lawmakers at the Capitol in Sacramento in March.

Goldberg, a fourth-year business administration-marketing senior, is president of the Cal Poly chapter of the American Marketing Association, which formed in 1978 to provide those interested in the field of marketing, advertising and sales with the tools needed to launch their careers.

The 22-year-old senior was part of the chapter’s history-making effort at the 2019 AMA International Collegiate Conference in New Orleans.

For the first time Cal Poly placed among the top 15 international chapters out of the nearly 400 that attended.

The ranking was the result of the chapter’s performance at the conference combined with the group’s activity during the school year.

Cal Poly placed third in several conference competitions: Marketing Strategy, SABRE Business Simulation, AMA Sales and Perfect Pitch.
