Calabasas girl to star in ‘Annie’

Calabasas resident Jacqueline Rosenthal, 9, will play the lead role in the Golden Performing Arts Center production of the musical "Annie" at 7 p.m., Sat., Jan. 20 and 6 p.m., Sun., Jan. 21, at Canoga Park High School. Her brother Brendan, 6, will make his stage debut in the production as well.


Jacqueline is a seasoned pro, having appeared in six musical productions already.


She recently won first place at the NATS Vocal Competition at Cal State University Northridge and has aspirations to become a singer, actress and writer.


A fourth grader at Viewpoint School in Calabasas, Jacqueline also excels academically.


A youthful altruist, she dreams of one day writing and starring in a major Broadway musical and donating half of the show’s profits to charity.


"I want to contribute to the world by making people smile and helping people who don’t have the same opportunities that I have," Jacqueline said.
