Calabasas begins crackdown on old septic tank systems

Ordinance calls for May 14 inspection deadline

Moving to comply with a new city ordinance, Calabasas property owners have begun inspections of their septic tank systems.

The Calabasas City Council recently adopted an ordinance requiring permits for on-site wastewater treatment systems, also known as septic systems. Owners must hire an inspector from the city’s list of eight certified firms to test their systems and obtain a permit.

The deadline for the septic tank inspections is May 14.
