Business of the Month

Presented regularly by the Calabasas Chamber of Commerce

The Calabasas Chamber of Commerce named Loving Home Hospice For Children Inc. as October’s Business of the Month.

Loving Home Hospice is one of the few comprehensive hospice care facilities for children. The hospice provides inpatient and home care services for children during end-of-life transition in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Through a team of qualifi ed physicians and registered nurses, along with industry professionals, Loving Home Hospice provides medical, psychological, social and spiritual care.

Children are not immune to serious illnesses and death. Over 50,000 children die each year in the United States alone. Today, less than one percent of children needing hospice care receive it. The devastating impact this can have on their families is nearly irreparable.

It is the mission of Loving Home Hospice to provide comfort and loving support to families during their difficult end-of-life challenges, regardless of their economic situation.

The hospice’s founder, Dylette Davis, and co-founder Lee Davis, her son, have worked together in the community on behalf of their nonprofit and individually on for the benefit of other nonprofits whose main goal is providing services to the community.

Dylette Davis has over 20 years of medical experience as a nurse and administrator and has volunteered in a hospice. She has also provided in-home foster care for battered and abused children in Los Angeles and Ventura counties.

Last year, Dylette Davis completed the adoption process for her son Jason, one of the abused children she cared for as a foster parent.

Lee Davis works with the City of Calabasas and has a long history of social service.

To raise funds to build an in-patient facility for the community, Loving Home Hospice hosted “An Afternoon of Jazz” at the Saddle Peak Lodge, with prominent jazz artists performing.

The hospice is trying to raise $3 to $5 million for a palliative hospice pediatric facility that will have 30 beds and provide care for both those in need and their families.

The next jazz event will be on Thurs., Dec. 4 at the same venue.

As a registered nonprofit, any proceeds donated will benefit the continuous development and growth of Loving Home Hospice for Children’s services and programs.

Loving Home Hospice’s offi ce is at 5126 Clareton Drive, Ste, 206, Agoura Hills.
