Bumper stickers support terrorist victims

Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Fire Chief P. Michael Freeman have ordered the placement of "In Their Honor" bumper stickers on all fire and sheriff’s department vehicles to honor victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S.

The bumper stickers feature the American flag and either the Fire Department badge or Sheriff’s Department badge on a field of white clouds and blue skies, and will be offered to anyone who makes a donation to the families of fallen New York City emergency response personnel.

"As Americans, we need to unify and organize our grief and anger into constructive means of supporting the recovery efforts in New York and Washington, D.C. This includes donations of time, money, resources, blood, prayer, or any other needs of our great nation," said Baca. "By displaying these bumper stickers, we hope to pay tribute to the victims of this tragedy and to the many heroes who perished in an effort to save them."

Donations for the families of fallen New York City emergency response personnel can be made at any Sheriff’s Department facility, to Sheriffs’ Relief Foundation Fund No. 400, or to Local 1014 FDNY Disaster Relief Fund, F & A Federal Credit Union, 2625 Corporate Place, Monterey Park, CA 91754. For additional information regarding the "In Their Honor" recovery effort, please call Sheriff’s Headquarters Bureau at (323) 526-5541.
