Baseball stars earn weekly honors

Two local baseball products started this season on the right note for College of the Holy Cross.

Sophomore outfielder Evan Ocello (Oaks Christian High) is the Patriot League’s Player of the Week. His teammate, freshman infielder Nick Lovullo of Newbury Park, is the league’s Rookie of the Week.

Ocello went 6-for-11 with six runs scored, a double, a triple and three RBI last week.

Lovullo made three starts last week. The former Panther went 5-for-11 with a team-best seven runs. He also had five RBI and a pair of doubles.

The Crusaders play a threegame series against Nevada in Reno this weekend.

AHS football seeks assistant coaches

The Agoura High football program is looking for qualified assistant coaches, preferably with playing experience at the collegiate level.

Warrior wrestler nabs trip to state

Amir Hassan of Westlake High punched his ticket to the CIF Boys Wrestling State Championship in Bakersfield this weekend.

Hassan, who won a CIFSouthern Section championship earlier in the month, qualified for the state tournament at 152 pounds by placing fourth at Masters last weekend.
