Craft items for sale

Conejo Valley Quilters will host “Trash to Treasures” Mon., Feb. 17 at Ascension Lutheran Church, Pederson Hall, 1600 E. Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks.

Crafters, sewists and quilters can purchase fabrics, notions and specialty items. Items will be priced to sell first come, first served.

Items made by club members will be available at deeply discounted prices.

Social time begins at 6:30 p.m. Treasure hunting starts at 7 p.m.

President’s Day at Reagan Library

The 28th annual President’s Day Celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mon., Feb. 17 at the Reagan Library, 40 Presidential Drive, Simi Valley.

The family event will occur rain or shine. Activities include:

Presidential storytelling by Abigail Adams, George Washington, Ulysses Grant, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln look-alikes.

Live musical entertainment by the Doo Wah Riders and the Los Angeles Police Concert Band.

Crafts and activities for children, including presidential bingo, Lincoln Logs, make a Lincoln penny necklace or a tri-corner colonial hat, and President’s Day coloring and activity sheets.

Picnic and carnival-style games, weather permitting, including sack races, water balloon tosses, shoe kicking contests, spinner cone races, shuffle board and jumping bounce houses.

View the Ferdinand Magellan Presidential Train inside the Air Force One Pavilion.

All outdoor President’s Day activities are free. Museum admission applies to see the Ferdinand Magellan Train and to visit the museum’s exhibits and Air Force One Pavilion.

Free parking and shuttle pickup will be available along Presidential Drive. All-American food will be available for purchase.

Fundraising hike In Wildwood

Ventura County high school water polo players are raising funds for a summer trip to Italy by offering a hike at 9 a.m. Sat., Feb. 29 at Wildwood Regional Park in Thousand Oaks

Life coach and hiking instructor Liane Olin will share personal experiences before leading the group on a 2- to 4-mile intermediate hike.

Attendees should arrive by 8:45 a.m. for parking. Also, participants should bring water and wear sturdy hiking shoes.

The cost is $15 to be paid at time of the hike.

Saturday sewing event is so good

Conejo Valley Quilters Guild will host a Saturday Sew-In from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Sat., Feb. 15 at New Hope Lutheran Church, 29295 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills.

Attendees should bring everything they need to sew for the day. They can work on a current project or quilt, or hang out with fellow sewers.

The room will have tables and space to spread out and work. A refrigerator and microwave will be available for sack lunches.

There is no charge to attend.
