Plenty to eat during Restaurant Week

Sponsored by the local tourism district, Conejo Valley Restaurant Week will take place Fri. through Thurs., Jan. 24 to 30.

The event, put on by Visit Conejo Valley, is meant to drive traffic to the area’s “85 unique restaurants, six local craft breweries, award-winning desserts and Southern California’s best-undiscovered wine region,” according to a press release.

To launch Restaurant Week, Visit Conejo Valley will treat a free drink to the first 50 cus- tomers who attend the kickoff event from 5 to 7 p.m. Fri., Jan. 24 Twisted Oak Tavern, 30105 Agoura Road.

Other participating restaurants include: The Irish Pub at the Palm Garden Hotel, Harvest Kitchen & Bar, Himalaya Restaurant Thousand Oaks, Barone’s Pizza Thousand Oaks, Lemonade Restaurant and Mythpoint Bistro.

Each destination will offer a special deal or menu throughout the week.

Play to address mental health issues

The award-winning Jewish Women’s Theatre will make its Thousand Oaks debut at 2 p.m. Sun., Jan. 19 at the California Museum of Art, inside The Oaks mall, 350 W. Hillcrest Drive.

The salon show, titled “Mapping of the Mind,” will feature actors telling stories about mental illness that are full of humor, heart, courage and hope.

Mental health is the foundation of healthy relationships, personal well-being and positive connections to society. One in five adults suffers from mental illness.

Admission is $45 in advance and $50 at the door, and include a dessert buffet. For tickets, visit jewishwomenstheatre.org.

An ear for music

The New West Symphony League will meet from 1:45 to 4 p.m. Thurs., Jan 23 at University Village Thousand Oaks, 3415 S. Campus Drive.

The event will have a dessert reception along with a Q&A with and performances by New West Symphony guest artists and Grammy Award-winning music director Michael Christie.

The league is open to potential new members who are passionate about music and supporting music education in Ventura County.

Admission to the event is free but reservations are required.
