Boutique benefits rescue pets

Organization funds veterinary care for animal rescues

The second annual holiday boutique benefiting WhatCanWe. org will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wed., Dec. 4 at the Hoffman “Pet Resort,” 3923 Davids Road, Agoura Hills.

WhatCanWe.org is a national nonprofit that raises funds and awareness to assist licensed, nonprofit animal rescues with veterinary care.

During the boutique, organic soups and complimentary snacks will be served, many of which were featured in WhatCanWe. org’s new cookbook, “Kitchen Rescues: Recipes for People and Their Pets.” This cookbook contains many recipes, including appetizers and desserts, with a section dedicated to pets.

The cookbook also has a pet resources section written by Bob Ferber, veteran prosecutor of the Los Angeles city attorney’s office, who was instrumental in forming the L.A. Animal Cruelty Task Force, a team of LAPD detectives and animal control officers who investigate animal cruelty and neglect.

The event will offer specialty foods, home furnishings, fashions, ceramics and jewelry from Eva’s Garden for sale. In addition, a book signing will take place throughout the day.

Donations are $25 per cookbook, with 100 percent of the proceeds going toward licensed animal rescue groups to offset veterinary expenses.

The cookbook also is available at these locations:
