The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary’s Flotilla 7-3 will teach a one-day, in-depth boating safety course from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sat., July 7 at the Thousand Oaks Police Department, 2101 E. Olsen Road.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the uniformed auxiliary component of the U.S. Coast Guard.
The beginner boating class will give attendees the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states. Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts to those who successfully complete the class.
Topics include introduction to boating, boating law, boat safety equipment, safe boating, navigation, boating problems, using trailers, storing and protecting a boat, hunting and fishing, waterskiing and river boating.
