Bird tests positive for West Nile Virus

On July 10, the Ventura County Environmental Health Division received confirmation from the California Department of Public Health that one wild bird collected in the City of Ventura by the EHD on July 1 tested positive for an infection of West Nile Virus. This is the first bird to test positive for WNV in Ventura County this year, and more are expected.
The EHD will continue to inspect mosquito breeding sources near where the bird was collected, and treat for mosquito breeding if necessary.
