Westlake Village, other cities, encourage beekeeping


Bees contribute in some way to about one in every three mouthfuls of food that make up the American diet, research shows.

But the pollinators are dying out, succumbing to pesticides, climate change, loss of habitat, and disease.

Westlake Village is joining other cities and the state of California in trying to protect bees by encouraging residents to take up beekeeping—but it will take a zoning change to make the honey farms a reality.
