Beach, park closures bring stark new reality

All Los Angeles County beaches and parking facilities were closed to the public on March 27 in response to overcrowding by people seeking an escape from the coronavirus lockdown.

Hiking won’t be an alternative. L.A. and Ventura County trails inside the California State Parks (Malibu Creek and, Point Mugu) and federal Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area systems are closed. Trails managed by the state conservation agencies are also closed, but the trails surrounding Oak Canyon Park in Oak Park remain open.
