Basketball hall of famer Westphal dies after battle with brain cancer

A GREAT TEACHER—Paul Westphal died at age 70 on Jan. 2 after battling brain cancer. Westphal was head coach of the Pepperdine University men’s basketball team from the 2002 through the 2006 seasons. The pro basketball hall of famer also coached the Phoenix Suns, Seattle SuperSonics and Sacramento Kings in the NBA. Courtesy of Pepperdine AthleticsThe new year began on a somber note.
