The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has completed its autopsy in the death of Cameron Boyce, the 20-year-old Disney Channel star from Oak Park, but what killed the young celebrity at his North Hollywood home on July 6 still isn’t known.

“An autopsy was performed (Monday) and a cause of death was deferred pending further investigation,” the coroner’s office said in a statement.

Boyce, a graduate of Oak Park Independent School, was well known for his roles on several Disney television series, including Jessie, as well as the films Descendants and Grown Ups.

Oak Park schools superintendent Tony Knight said Boyce attended Oak Park Independent School for five years. He enrolled with the district in eighth grade and graduated in 2017.

“Our hearts go out to his family,” Knight said.

Boyce was found unresponsive in his home located in the 5100 block of Cartwright Avenue in North Hollywood last Saturday afternoon. Authorities were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:35 p.m.

The Disney Channel released a statement following the announcement of Boyce’s death.

“From a young age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talents with the world. As a young man, he was fueled by a strong desire to make a difference in peoples’ lives through his humanitarian work,” the statement said. “He was an incredibly talented performer, a remarkably caring and thoughtful person and, above all else, he was a loving and dedicated son, brother, grandson and friend. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, cast mates and colleagues and join his many millions of fans in grieving his untimely passing. He will be dearly missed.”

Bob Iger, Disney’s chief executive officer, posted a tweet early Sunday morning praising Boyce’s career.

“The Walt Disney Company mourns the loss of Cameron Boyce, who was a friend to so many of us, and filled with so much talent, heart and life, and far too young to die,” Iger wrote. “Our prayers go out to his family and his friends.”
