Auditions open for musical revue ‘Smokey Joe’s Cafe’





Auditions for Cabrillo Music Theatre’s “Smokey Joe’s Café” will be Sat. and Mon., Jan. 27 and 29.

Saturday’s call is for non-Equity performers and will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, Thousand Oaks.

Monday’s auditions are Equity only and will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Screenland II, 10501 Burbank Blvd., North Hollywood.

All auditions and callbacks are by appointment only. Audition appointments will be taken beginning Jan. 8. Bring picture and resume.

All auditions are singing calls. All roles are open and available to nonunion performers. Actors’ Equity contracts are available for some roles. There is pay for all roles.

Broadway’s longest running musical revue, “Smokey Joe’s Café” showcases the music and

lyrics of songwriters Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller, including “Yakety Yak,” “Jailhouse Rock,” “On Broadway,” “Spanish Harlem,” “Stand By Me” and “Love Potion No. 9.”

“Smokey Joe’s Café,” directed and choreographed by Paul David Bryant, will play March 23 through April 1 in the Fred Kavli Theatre at the Countrywide Performing Arts Center, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. Rehearsals will begin in early March.
