Auditions for steampunk ‘Macbeth’

The City of Agoura Hills Department of Community Services and Curtain Call Youth Theater will have auditions on Sat., March 15 for a teen production.

Agoura Hills Recreation supervisor Nick Newkirk called the show, which has a steampunk twist, an “almost all-female version of William Shakespeare’s ‘Macbeth,’”

Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction set in a world inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century.

All roles are open to females, ages 13 to 19, except for the three Witches and Hecate. These roles are open to males ages 13 to 19, Newkirk said.

Rehearsals will be Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Sundays from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Agoura Hills Recreation Center, 30610 Thousand Oaks Blvd. Not all actors will be required for every rehearsal.

The show will run June 20 to 29, at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 2 p.m. Sundays in the G building at Agoura High School.

The production is tuitionbased. For audition times, visit www.ci.agoura-hills.ca.us or call (818) 597-7361.
