The Agoura Hills Library is open five days a week: Tuesday and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Thursday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
•Aug. 23 is the date for the second meeting of the Adult Book Club led by librarian Nina Hull.
This month’s discussion topic is Lisa See’s book “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” which is also a movie playing in local theaters. Light refreshments will be served. All are invited to attend.
Next month’s selection is “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo,” a thriller by Steig Larsson. Books will be available in the library the last week in August.
•Children can read to a dog that would love to hear a story. The dog will be at the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sat., Aug. 20.
•Fall Story Time for children begins Aug. 31. Join Miss Grace for stories, music and activities on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.
•The Mystery Book Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wed., Sept. 7. Dennis Lehane’s “Shutter Island” will be discussed.
•The chili cook-off will be Sat., Sept. 17. Pick up a registration form at the library.
•The next Adult Book Club meeting is Sept. 27.
•Look for gently-used books, videos, DVDs, magazines and CDs at the Book Cellar, open every Saturday except holidays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. under the library off the parking garage.
Paperbacks start at 50 cents and hardbacks at $1. All proceeds provide programs and materials for the library. Donations are welcome.
