Little things can make a big difference to a child or young adult: a backpack filled with school supplies, new school clothes and shoes; a teddy bear to comfort an injured child; or professional clothing for a job interview.

Assistance League of Conejo Valley (ALCV), a chapter of National Assistance League, has seen, firsthand, the positive impact these little things can make.

ALCV is launching their fundraising campaign called "SOCK It To ‘Em."

"We send out a little sock to people on our mailing list of 2,400—in the hope that they will return it with a donation. The funds enable us to continue to Support Our Community Kids through our five philanthropic projects," said Diann Wilson, chairperson of the campaign.

So far wthis year, ALCV has provided children in the Conejo and Simi Valleys with 1,500 backpacks and more than 200 pairs of shoes.

For more information, please call Mary Ures at (805) 370-0026. Locally, ALCV serves the communities of Agoura, Agoura Hills, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and Westlake Village.
