Area schools take wait-and-see approach as disease spreads

Pepperdine closes, local districts on edge


The spread of the coronavirus has left area school district officials with the difficult task of planning for possible campus closures, a move that could create a ripple effect of sending thousands of students home and forcing parents to miss work.

School officials are faced with the problem of ensuring lost class time is minimized and, if it is, that students can do their work from home—a task complicated by the fact that not all kids have laptops and access to the internet.
