Anthropology expert to speak





The Ventura County Archaeological Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wed., Nov. 5 at Newbury Park Library, 2331 Borchard Road, Newbury Park.

John Johnson, PhD, will give a talk on “Momonga and Other Native American Places in the Vicinity of Santa Susana Pass.”

Johnson is the curator of anthropology at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. He has published more than 40 studies about Southern California Indians, particularly the Chumash. He works to understand the culture and history of the Chumash Indians and their neighbors through the study of archaeology, archival records and interviews with contemporary Native Americans.

Admittance is free, and the public is welcome.
