Animal Control checking pet licences

Officers from the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control will be in the unincorporated areas of Topanga Canyon, Calabasas and Woodland Hills to check for current rabies vaccinations and to ensure residents are in compliance with licensing requirements as well as the mandatory spay/neuter and microchip ordinance.

California law requires that all dogs and cats over the age of 4 months be vaccinated against rabies and be licensed.

Securing a dog or cat license is an important part of identification and can assist animal control agencies if a pet becomes lost.

Residents not in compliance will be subject to license fees and delinquency charges, including a $40 field enforcement fee, to offset the cost of the department’s field services. In order to avoid penalties, be sure to license all pets.

To secure a new animal license, print out the application from www.animalcare.lacounty. gov or visit the county animal care center. Licenses that are not delinquent can be renewed through the Internet.

The department offers lowcost vaccination clinics and low- cost assistance for individuals who qualify for spay and neuter surgeries. For more information, visit www.animalcare. lacounty.gov or stop by the county animal care center.
