Robin Dowds, daughter of Dr. Gordon and Martha Dowds of Agoura Hills and a junior at Agoura High School, has been selected to participate in the resident honors program at the University of Southern California.

This fall, Robin will be one of 43 students, selected from a nationwide search, to participate in this highly competitive early entrance honors program. Robin has been awarded a Deans’ Scholarship from USC.

At USC, Robin will be enrolled in the Thematic Option Program, an interdisciplinary honors program which has been nationally recognized as one of the finest honors programs in the country.

In addition, Robin will begin her major studies in broadcast journalism in the Annenberg School for Communication.

Robin helped raise $7,000 for "Change Against Cancer," an annual fundraiser that she founded and organized at Agoura High School.

Proceeds from Robin’s fundraiser went to Camp Sunrise in Arizona, a camp for children who are also cancer patients. She participated in the 30-Hour Famine, collecting pledges to help feed starving children in third world countries.

In addition, Robin was very active in service at her church, was a counselor for the Agoura Bible Fellowship AWANA Program and was president of the Maranatha Christian Club at her high school. She was also captain of the varsity soccer team, a member of the California Scholarship Federation and an honor roll student.
