Afield day for ham radio fans




 

 

The Conejo Valley Amateur Radio Club will have its ARRL Field Day, “100 Years of Amateur Radio,” from 11 a.m. Sat., June 28 through 11 a.m. Sun., June 29 at Maple Elementary School, 3501 Kimber Drive, Newbury Park.

Ten solar-powered stations will operate throughout the 24- hour period using voice, Morse code and digital modes.

A GOTA (Get on the Air) station will be available through daylight hours for the public to talk on the air.

At 3:30 and 4 p.m. on Sunday, the public can take part in a hunt for a hidden transmitter using radio signals.

In addition, there will be displays of modern and antique radio equipment and communications.

Attendees can also get in formation on how to earn a radio license from the FCC.
