Actor Alec Baldwin to screen ‘Elephant’





In “Cinema’s Legacy,” the Skirball Center and the American Film Institute continue a series of conversations with contemporary filmmakers. Acclaimed guests screen work they credit with inspiring their art and discuss the great films and filmmakers who have influenced their careers.

At 7:30 p.m. Fri., Nov. 18, actor Alec Baldwin will screen “Elephant” at the Skirball, 2701 N. Sepulveda Blvd., Los Angeles. For advance tickets ($6 to $10) please call (866) 468-3399.

“Elephant” is director Gus Van Sant’s compelling portrait of what starts out as an ordinary day at an American high school. The film follows a group of young teenagers, all played by actual high school students, as they go about their daily routine but come face to face with a violent incident that transforms their lives forever. The film earned the Palme d’Or and best director prizes at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival.
