ACTION hosting training for adoptive parents

ACTION (Area Christians Taking Initiative on Needs) will sponsor a training and support network for foster and adoptive parents. The first workshop will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon Sat., Oct. 10 at the EvFree Church, 999 Rancho Conejo Blvd., Newbury Park.

There is no charge or preregistration required.

Participants may attend two of three workshops: Trauma Effects on Early Brain Development led by Sean Schoneman, clinical psychologist at Casa Pacifica; Boundaries for a Healthy Marriage facilitated by Tom Prinz, marriage and family therapist; and Volunteer Opportunities in Foster Care, featuring a panel of local agencies.

ACTION offers training and support for foster and adoptive parents, educators and professionals, and volunteers who are serving as camp counselors, mentors or respite care. ACTION partners with the Foster and Kinship Care Education agency and other foster care agencies to sponsor these training meetings.
