David McMartin of The Acorn’s production department is a repeat winner in the National Park Service’s “Spirit of the Mountains Photo Contest.” He was a winner in last year’s competition.

Award winners were saluted on Sat., Oct. 8 at the opening of the exhibit of the 2005 contest winners at the National Park Service Visitor Center in Thousand Oaks.

Among the winners were residents of Agoura Hills, Oak Park, Thousand Oaks and Newbury Park. McMartin is an Agoura Hills resident. First place winning entries will be published in “Outdoors in the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area,” a quarterly calendar of events and programs printed and distributed by the National Park Service. All winners received ribbons.

Several photographers including McMartin earned multiple honors for their photographs. Among the winners were the following.

McMartin earned second place in the “Animals” category as well as second place in the “Plants” category and honorable mention in the “Scenic Shots” category.

Oak Park residents Vince Curtis and Emily Curtis each earned an honorable mention for their entries in the “Scenic Shots” and “Young Photographers” categories respectively.
