Acorn invites you to share the love on Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is a holiday near and dear to our hearts; who doesn’t love being in love?

In the course of our coverage we hear many heartwarming stories from couples in the community who are either making a life together or planning to do so. Of all the holidays on the calendar, Valentine’s Day is the sweetest.

And no matter how couples choose to express their feelings on Feb. 14—from a simple “I love you” accompanied by a peck on the cheek, to a night on the town replete with rubies and baubles— the words spoken by loved ones on this very special day are meant to be sincere and their actions meaningful.

May we suggest a new twist on Valentine’s?

In past years The Acorn was pleased to publish Love Notes leading up to the big day—amorous messages written between significant others. Nothing makes a person happier than hearing kind words from a loved one, and the Love Notes brought smiles galore.

This year, we’re asking readers to show their love by sending a Romantic Selfie that will be published in the paper and online in the issue of Feb. 13.

Send us your high-resolution photo of a loving embrace, marriage proposal or other special moment with the person in your life. Please include names, cities of residence, brief description of the shot and your contact information.

Show us your proud moment—make it creative and make it fun—and we’ll share your photo with our many Acorn readers. Put some heart into it! First dates count, too.

The deadline to submit your Romantic Selfie is Feb. 7. Send your photo via email to Valentines@theacorn.com.
