A Super Saturday for recycling, sustainability


Oak Park Unified School District will hold its eighth annual Super Saturday event, a recycling drive and a sustainability fair on Sat., Feb. 22 on the Oak Park High School campus, 899 N. Kanan Road.

Recycling will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

A special feature this year will be Medea Creek Middle School and OPHS students discussing research they did on a topic that is related to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals, taking place inside the pavilion.

The event will also have animal friends, the recycling touch-a-truck, kids’ hands-on activities like mini solar-car building, rain gutter regatta, floral arranging and photography workshops.

People from many organizations will be present to share their knowledge about kelp forests, the condor recovery program, plant-based cooking, and local trails and hiking information.

The latest electric cars will be on site from local dealers.

Planet- friendly food by OPUSD kitchens will be available for purchase.
