A capella group selected for CD





Unstrumental, an a cappella group atCalabasas High School, has won a place for the second time on the annual Best of High School A Cappella CD compilation. Groups from all over the worldsubmitted CDs to win a spot on this internationally recognized album.

This year Unstrumental’s arrangement of “Soul Meets Body” placed ahead of 54 other high school a cappella groups. Winning groups earn international recognition on the websites www.varsityvocals.com/bohsa and www.a-cappella.com.

The winning groups this year will also receive a special promotion at the American Choral Directors Association international convention in Miami in March.

Unstrumental is the school’s coed a cappella group founded in 2001 as a studentrun extracurricular group. The group performs songs ranging from the Beatles to the Spice Girls and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Recently the group won first place at the International Championship of High School A Cappella 2007 Quarterfinals. The group also received awards for best choreography and best vocal percussion.

Unstrumental performs throughout the Southern California area at school concerts, community events, competitions and private parties.
