Oak park resident Patricia Hill celebrated her 100th birthday on Feb. 24. A small family celebration will be held Sat., Feb. 27.

Hill was born in Tulia, Texas in 1921 during the Great Depression. Her father died when she was a child. Her mother, Beulah, raised her and eight other children as a single mother.

The family moved to Los Angeles when Hill was in grade school.

She married at 18 and moved to Glendale where she lived until 1997 and then moved to Oak Park to be with her family.

Hills says she loves Oak Park with its beautiful hills and has enjoyed the duck pond across the street from her residence, with its memories with her great grandchildren.

Hill has a son, Robert Hill; two granddaughters; seven great grandchildren; and a 2-year-old great-great grandson.

The centenarian plays with her iPad daily to stay busy and connected with the world. On social media she has friends from everywhere and is involved in an Irish group on Facebook.

She likes to get her nails manicured and go shopping when possible. Hill has never missed voting in a presidential election.
