Lindero Canyon welcomes new principal

Eric Anhalt Eric Anhalt The Las Virgenes Unified School District Board of Education announced that Eric Anhalt will be the new principal of Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills starting with the 2017-2018 school year.

Anhalt is in his 15th year with the school district. He has served as a teacher in general and special education, an assistant principal at both Lindero Middle School and Calabasas High School and, most recently, the principal of White Oak Elementary

School in Westlake Village.

Anhalt is replacing Abbe Irshay, who is being assigned another post, school district officials said.

Anhalt received his Bachelor of Arts from Stanford University, an MBA from Pepperdine University, and teaching and administrative credentials from Cal Lutheran University.

He and his wife, Susan, have lived in Calabasas for 20 years. All three of their daughters attend LVUSD schools.

“I feel like I have a clear understanding of what we expect kids to come to middle school with, and I also know what we need to do with them while they are here so we can best prepare them for high school,” Anhalt said.

While Anhalt was principal at White Oak, the school’s enrollment increased. The school also received a California Gold Ribbon Schools Award from the California Department of Education and the Social Communication program received a Golden Bell Award from the California School Boards Association.

In partnership with the Parent Faculty Club, White Oak earned a technology grant from the City of Westlake Village to support the advance of the district’s Forward Learning program.

“Eric’s depth of experience as a leader and a teacher made him rise to the top of the pool of candidates for the new principal at Lindero Canyon Middle School,” said Dan Stepenosky, district superintendent

The Las Virgenes district serves 11,500 students from Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Hidden Hills and the Los Angeles County portion of Westlake Village.
