Chabad honors Mayor Weber

SUSAN WEININGER/Acorn Newspapers SUSAN WEININGER/Acorn Newspapers FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE—Rabbi Moshe Bryski from the Chabad of the Conejo, left, and longtime friend Denis Weber, mayor of Agoura Hills, enjoy a moment at the Chabad’s June 11 gala fundraiser. Weber was the guest of honor at the Four Seasons Westlake Village event. Titled Leaders, Heroes and Lamplighters, the evening included dinner, entertainment and a tribute to Weber and other local leaders. Weber is a six-term mayor of Agoura Hills and the longest-serving City Council member. He was elected to the council in 1993. Also at the event, a Champion of the Spirit Award was presented to Isabelle Szneer as a posthumous tribute to her husband, Cantor Leopold Szneer, a Holocaust survivor who lifted the spirits of his fellow prisoners while in the concentration camps. Leopold Szneer later became an inspirational figure in Los Angeles and Westlake Village.
